The Onitsha Traders Consultative Forum, OTCF, has cautioned the All Progressives Congress, APC that it risks losing the state if it picks any other aspirant outside the mould of Dr. Tony Nwoye, one of the major aspirants in the contest and a member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.
Chairman of OCTF, Chief Vin Obi told Vanguard in an interview that Nwoye’s pedigree in state and students union politics made him an alluring asset that any party should be proud of Dr. Tony Nwoye, APC guber aspirant in Anambra Obi, a former chairman of Onitsha Main Market Amalgamated Traders Union (OMMATU) while noting that Nwoye was head above all other aspirants in the APC said: “It is on record that since Nwoye left the Chairmanship of PDP in Anambra State the party has not been able to find its footing,” Obi said in appreciation of Nwoye’s organisational capacity.
According to Chief Obi, “the good thing about Prince Nwoye’s aspiration is that he has supporters from his old party PDP and his present party, All Progressives Congress, APC, and comes from the Anambra North Senatorial District, the rightful people to produce the Governor of the state according to the zoning formula that has been going on in the state.
“In all his political mission Prince Nwoye has been outstanding, from his leadership of University of Nigeria Nsukka students, to becoming the President of NANS, youngest Chairman of PDP in Nigeria and winning the Party’s ticket to contest the 2013 governorship seat with the incumbent Governor Obiano, and claiming the present seat he is occupying in the House of Representatives, one has no doubt that he will do the same by becoming the APC’s flag bearer for Anambra State and subsequently winning the election proper come November 18, 2017.”
