Gov Ganduje Responsible For My Defection Rumours, Travails- Kwankwaso

Kano State former governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Tuesday denied his defection story to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and said it was planted by the state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Reports in the media on Monday had claimed that the former governor and current senator had left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and returned to his former party, the PDP.

But responding in a statement on Tuesday through his chief of staff, Aminu Abdussalam, the former APC presidential aspirant described the rumours of his defection as not only ”malicious” but also “totally unfounded.”

The statement read in part, “We have not at any time contemplated leaving the APC. We were surprised and deeply appalled when we read the story. The story was planted by Kano State government and some political opponents who are threatened by the mass followership Senator Kwankwaso enjoys nationwide.

“Kano State government was the one that planted the same story last year, and its agents are still the same characters spreading the false story. They are angry that the national leadership of our great party, the APC, has endorsed the Umar Doguwa-led chairmanship of the party in Kano and dismissed their sham congresses.”
